Zimbabwean education experts are undergoing induction at Ntare Louisenlund School at Bugesera, Rwanda, following their arrival to work in Rwanda in fulfilment of a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

This was said by Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Honourable Edgar Moyo on the sidelines of an induction workshop for 143 Zimbabwean education experts who arrived in Kigali this Sunday for permanent placement as teachers.

“As the second cohort comes into Rwanda, this is an expression of the deepening and enduring relations between the government of Zimbabwe and the government of Rwanda. It shows deep confidence by the government of Rwanda in the expertise that we are giving them. Zimbabwe has demonstrated strength in terms of quality in education, and hence demand for teachers. We are opening opportunities for employment for expatriates, and that adds up to our employment also going up,” he said.

The group is the second, following another group of 157 experts that was deployed in 2022.

The teachers will be deployed to various primary and secondary schools, vocational training colleges, universities and the Schools Inspection Authority.

The Rwanda education experts programme has proved to be mutually beneficial for both Zimbabwe and Rwanda by strengthening educational reforms in Rwanda while creating employment avenues for Zimbabwean teachers.
