RWANDA: Amazon, Inkblot, Netflix bosses to speak at Nextv CEO Africa in Rwanda

Inkblot Productions co-founder, Damola Ademola, has been announced as one of the speakers at the fifth edition of Nextv CEO, the yearly conference focused on debating the future of TV on the continent. By Guardian Nigeria

The event will hold from September 27 to 28 at the Marriott Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.

Damola will join an exciting panel of professionals to discuss « The appetite for local content: Which partnerships can lead to success? »

Other panelists include Managing Director at Canal+ Rwanda, Sophie Tchatchoua; Director of Content, Africa at Netflix, Ben Amadasun; and Director and Head, WW Major Studio Licensing Strategy at Amazon Prime Video, Ayanna Lonian. Renowned media professional, Tamima Ibrahim, will moderate the plenary session.

Nextv CEO Africa is organised yearly by Dataxis. The highly sought-after gathering brings together free-to-air, Pay-TV channels, OTT, satellite operators, production, distribution and technology companies, media and marketing agencies and other specialists connected to the TV industry.

A statement by the organisers revealed they would be hosting more than 80 CEOs representing pay TV, Free to air TV and everyone involved in the media economy. The event will explore new learning on how change makers and professionals in Africa are seizing the region’s incredible growth opportunities.

The statement reads: « We’re thrilled at the return of Nextv CEO Africa, and to once again be in a community with many talented artists and business leaders. In the course of the two-day event, we’ll explore the opportunities for established and disruptive media companies in a marketplace that is looking at content, business and technology strategies to drive and increase market share and profit. »

Damola Ademola shared his delight at joining some of the biggest and brightest names in the media community to chart a new course for the industry.

« I’m excited to be part of an amazing panel and the opportunity to share on the evolution of content and the coproduction opportunities in Africa, » he said.

Nextv brings together a diverse group of key influencers and industry decision-makers to explore the challenges within the African content industry, the importance of partnerships and co-production in Africa and monetising content across multiple platforms and distribution.

Over the past decade, Inkblot productions has delivered premium, entertaining films that tell diverse stories from Nigeria and around the world.

In December 2021, the Nigerian production company became the first African studio to sign a massive distribution with Amazon Prime Video.

The multi-year deal, which kicked off in 2022, gives Prime Video exclusive distribution rights to Inkblot’s new film slate.
