Saudi Arabia participates in UN Broadband Commission meeting in Rwanda

Saudi Arabia, represented by Governor of Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) Dr. Mohmmed Al-Tamimi, has participated in the UN Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development meeting in Rwanda to enhance work to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through spreading broadband and encouraging countries to adopt national policies for broadband to build the future of societies and develop it in the economic and social fields.

The Kingdom contributes to the commission as an effective member to build a comprehensive digital post-pandemic future, encourage countries to adopt national broadband policies, utilize communications and information technology to realize SDGs through spreading broadband, bridge the digital gap among countries, provide ICT services for all to contribute to realizing economic and social welfare for peoples, and to enhance digital transformation and develop the digital economy globally.

The commission is co-chaired by Rwanda President Paul Kagame and businessman Carlos Salim, and jointly vice-chaired by the heads to the two founding UN agencies, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union and UNESCO Director General, and comprises several influential decision-makers in ICT and senior officials in the government and industrial sectors
