INDIA AND RWANDA HOLD MAIDEN DEFENCE COOPERATION MEETING

India and Rwanda held their first-ever meeting on enormous defence opportunities including training, joint military exercises, and defence industrial cooperation. By Psu Connect

Both countries held their first edition of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee [JDCC] meeting in Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday. The Indian delegation highlighted the growing progress of Indian defence manufacturers in exporting equipment to friendly countries. The counterpart of the corresponding delegation has shown keen interest in augmenting training cooperation, expressing confidence in the growing capabilities of the Indian defence industry.

Rwanda also showcases the highlighted areas where the Indian Armed Forces and industry could in future collaborate with their Defence forces under the stance MoU signed between both countries in 2018 in the defence sector.

Bilateral relations between India and Rwanda have been cordial by growing eventually and gaining stability over the many years. The visit of the Indian delegation for the JDCC meeting is likely to further bolster the defence relations with Rwanda.

The Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad and comprised senior officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Armed Forces along with the Charge d’ Affaires in the Indian embassy in Kigali, Nilratan Mridha.
